At the beginning of July, Brazil filed a request to join the Madrid Protocol<\/strong> concerning the registration of International Marks.<\/p>\n

This means that since October 2, 2019<\/strong> it will be possible to include Brazil among the Countries which can be designated with the registration of the international trademark<\/strong><\/a>, either by filing an international trademark and by extending the existing one in that territory.<\/p>\n

After the accession of Canada<\/strong><\/a>, this is certainly another \u201cbig\u201d entry into the international trademark system, which brings to 121 the current Member States.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian economy currently occupies the seventh place among the major world economies, despite \u2013 after coming out of the recession in 2017 \u2013 it has grown in 2018 with very modest rhythms and it would not seem to have started to improve during this year.<\/p>\n

The entrance in the international trademark could help to boost the national economy, making easier for foreign companies to protect their trademarks in Brazil<\/strong><\/a> and for Brazilian companies to register their trademarks abroad.<\/p>\n

Italian exports in Brazil include mechanical, chemical and pharmaceutical products, electronics, metal, rubber and plastic products, food and beverages.<\/p>\n

Brazil is the fifth economy in the area of South America and Caribbean to join the international trademark, after Antigua and Barbuda, Cuba, Mexico and Colombia.<\/p>\n
